Bridal Fashions
From bareness and simplicity to refined embroidery and lace, the latest fashion trends were showcased recently at the Independent Visions Couture Exposition, the largest such bridal show in the United States.
Organized by WeddingChannel.com, the show unveiled breathtaking new designs from more than 120 international and national designers, and gowns from top couturiers including Bridal Givenchy, Max Chaoul and Ines di Santo. Highlights included:
- Bridal gowns that celebrate the female form and highlight the back, shoulders and neck. The trend is about bareness and simplicity.
- Gentle gathering of fabric at the small of the back, loosely flowing cowl necks, removable bustles and subtle draping of sensuous fabrics reveal the purity of shape in this season's most elegant and feminine dresses.
- Adorning these sleeker silhouetted dresses is refined embroidery. Whether vine-like metallic and crystal embroidery or tiny sequins with fine crystal beading, all embellishment is intricate and delicate.
- This season is all about lace. Shown as a subtle detail or as the main fabric, modern interpretations of this classic material are coming on strong, invoking a sense of romanticism and style.
- Color trends are soft and surprising, with subtle colors such as gold, dusty rose, mint green and the palest of pink adding a new sense of excitement to bridal gowns. Classic white and ivory gowns have been shown adorned with tiny black beads, a nod to the current fashion trend of using black and white.
- The stiletto is back, and the heel is higher than ever.
- Progressive design choices include dresses with asymmetrical lines, oversized sequin beading, varying hemlines and square buttons. For a less traditional yet elegant look, designers are pairing pants with fitted tops and long coats.
