Perfect Hair Timeline
With some planning, every bride can feel confident, comfortable and beautiful on her wedding day.
- Go for a consultation if you haven't already; it's usually free with a haircut or styling. Bring your veil and headpiece, or a photo of an idea you like.
- Deep condition hair once a week to get it in top form.
- Explore wedding day options. If hair is pinned up during the ceremony, can you let it down for the reception? Have the stylist show you how to redo it yourself.
- Think beyond the nuptials. Ideally, any cut you choose should work with your everyday lifestyle. Consider how much time and money you're willing to spend maintaining a look after the wedding.
- Go for your final trim before the wedding.
- Have a "tress rehearsal." Bring your headpiece and have your stylist fix your hair as he/she or you will for the big day. This way, you can see how you like the style, whether it's comfortable, and how well it holds. Allow ample time for this session if the style you have chosen is complicated.
- If you plan to highlight your hair, have it done now. The fresher the color, the better your hair looks.
- Pack a hat, if your honeymoon will be in a sunny place, to protect tresses. (When you're caught without, keep hair wet - water acts as a natural barrier between sun and hair.)
- Wear a button-up shirt to your appointment so you won't muss your hair when you dress. Make sure to bring your veil and a photo of your dress so that you can further help your stylist.
