Deciphering photography styles

Couples today are highly sophisticated and more aware than ever of the current trends in the photography industry. You've got quite a selection of styles from which to choose.

Traditional pictures
These are portraits of the bride and groom, the bridal party and the couples' families. Ideally, this should include a mix of posed, close-up, full-length and candid photos.

Illustrative shots
Illustrative photographs portray high drama with grand poses and interesting scenery, such as the bridal couple's hands, displaying their rings. When taking this type of shot, every detail is arranged for impact.

Candid and photojournalistic shots:
Generally taken with no instruction or guests' awareness of the photographer, these shots relay the emotions of the day. Shot by a talented professional, these photos will truly tell the story of your wedding day.

Creative photography
Think "art prints." These photos will include images with interesting angles or juxtaposition.

Black and white photos
Nothing beats black and white for drama, however, when just a bit of color is added, perhaps in the bridal bouquet, these photos offer high impact.
