Formal wear
The Groom & Groomsmen
Grooms go down the aisle in style. Jackets take on European styling for ease of comfort and fit with rounded notch collars and contrasting stripes. Black is the color of choice for formalwear, but gray is an alternative.
The Bridesmaids
Designers are aware that whether a bride wants her maids to look traditional or contemporary, they should be stylish. In addition to making bridesmaids' dresses that rival most sophisticated eveningwear, manufacturers are making traditional dresses that are more elegant and fashionable than ever before.
Mother of the Bride/Groom
Skirts come in all lengths, from floor-skimming to above-the-knee, and dresses mirror the fashion-forward looks of ready-to-wear. A favorite silhouette: Easy crepe jackets with soft, fluid, long skirts in contrasting fabric.
Flower Girl
Flower girls are usually miniature versions of the maids or bride.
Ring Bearer
The ring bearer should mimic the dress of the groom. A short pantsuit is an option for warm weather if the child is young.
Guests
Guests are generally left to their own discretion in dressing. However, the bride can steer their selections as well. By printing "black tie invited" on reception cards, the bride is requesting tuxedos for men and floor-length gowns to dressy cocktail suits for women.
